Giacinto Triolo, MD, FEBO, graduated from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (Milan, Italy) in 2010 and completed his ophthalmology training in the same University in 2016.

He also did a 2-year Glaucoma Research Fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, USA. He then undertook a first combined Glaucoma and Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinical Fellowship at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in 2018, and a second Glaucoma Clinical and Research Fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK, in 2019.

Since November 2019, he is Glaucoma Consultant at the Ophthalmic Hospital, University of Milan, Italy.

 

His clinical research interests range from innovative methods for optic nerve and macular imaging in glaucoma and other optic neuropathies, to novel surgical approaches to treat glaucoma, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and glaucoma drainage devices.

 

He authored and co-authored over 40 articles in peer reviewed international journals, is an editorial board member for some of them, and participated as guest speaker to several international and national ophthalmology and glaucoma meetings. He is a member of the PAUL Glaucoma Implant Study Group, and is the first surgeon who implanted this device for the surgical treatment of refractory glaucoma in Italy in 2020.  He is a sponsored member of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS), and a regular member of the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), and the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), among others.
