Professor David Steel is a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Sunderland Eye Infirmary, as well as Honorary Professor of Retinal Surgery at Newcastle University and Visiting Professor at the University of Liverpool. He has over 25 years-experience of retinal surgery, with over 7000 citations, and an H index of 38. He is Associate Editor for the Journal Eye, President of the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons and an elected member of the Club Jules Gonin.
