Dr Scialdone completed his residency in Ophthalmology in 1983, and an one year research and clinical retina fellowship at the Hammersmith Hospital in London. He was in charge as chief of anterior segment surgery at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy. In 2000 he became Director of Ophthalmic Hospital – ASST Fatebenefratelli–Sacco, Milan, Italy.

Dr Scialdone has been invited a number of times to perform live cataract and cornea surgery. He served in the council of Italian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is a member of several international professional societies, including the AAO, the ASCRS, ESCRS, ISRS, Eucornea. He participated in clinical trials, and published over 110 articles and case reports.
