Marina Rodríguez Calvo de Mora, MD, PhD, FEBO, studied Medicine at the University of Málaga (Spain) and did her Ophthalmology Residency Program at the reference Hospital in city in Málaga, where she continues to practice as a Corneal Surgeon and Consultant. She performed a fellowship in Corneal and Ocular Surface Surgery at the prestigious clinic of Dr. Melles in Rotterdam (Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery, NIIOS, https://www.niios.com/), working later on as a consultant.

As a surgeon specialized in endothelial keratoplasty, she is  closely linked to the Transplant Commission of Andalusia. She has visited the best Eye Banks in Europe, the one in Veneto (FBOV, https://www.fbov.org/) and Rotterdam (Amnitrans, https://www.niios.com/amnitrans-eyebank-rotterdam/) in order to coordinate the constitution of the Eastern Andalusia Eye Bank, inaugurated in 2016.

Marina has always been interested in research and quality teaching with an international vocation. She performed her European Doctoral Thesis (Doctor Europeus) about blood-derived sera in dry eye, obtaining Cum Laude. She has to date (October, 2021) 35 publications in impact journals (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=rodriguez+calvo+de+mora) and many other ongoing papers, as well than more then 30 book chapters. She has performed many presentations, instructional courses and wetlabs both in international and national congresses. Marina has received various awards for her presentations at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology, and the Andalusian Society of Ophthalmology (in three consecutive years). She has been the principal investigator in four clinical trials and designed and collaborated in another two.

Marina is a reviewer of following the journals: American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, Eye and Vision, Archives of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology and Journal Français d’Ophtalmologie.
