Andreas Pollreisz, MD, is a specialist in ophthalmology with a focus on retinal diseases at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University Vienna (MUV). His clinical interest is in age-related macular degeneration, vitreoretinal surgery and diabetic retinopathy. His research interest lies in retinal imaging with a focus on different optical coherence tomography systems, including OCT- Angiography and adaptive optics assisted instruments. Furthermore, he focuses on the pathobiology of the retinal pigment epithelium and pathomechanisms involving retinal angiogenesis and has previously trained at Columbia University in New York, Division of Surgical Sciences. Currently he leads the translational ophthalmological research group and is deputy leader of the Vienna Clinical Trial Center at the Department of Ophthalmology, MUV.
He is from Vienna, Austria and received his medical degree from the Medical University Vienna.
