Rodolfo Mastropasqua has had comprehensive ophthalmic training in Italy, and he has completed fellowships in cataract and vitreoretinal surgery in the UK. He completed an honorary research fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital (London, UK) in 2015 and achieved a PhD degree at the University Politecnica delle Marche (Ancona, Italy) in 2019. He currently works as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Vitreoretinal and Medical Retina Consultant at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). His research interests are in retinal imaging, vitreoretinal disorders, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration (AMD). He has authored or co-authored over 140 articles in peer-reviewed international journals.

He has been an invited speaker in several national and international meetings. He is on the board of the young section of the EURETINA society (YOURS) and vice president of the Italian society for young retinal imaging specialists (YORIS).
