Francisco Javier Goñi obtained his MD and PhD degrees at Navarra University, Spain, in 1985 and 1994, respectively. He undertook his ophthalmological training at the Department of Ophthalmology, Sant Pau Hospital, Barcelona, and qualified as an ophthalmologist in 1991. From 1996 to 2011 he has been Professor at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC) and then associated Professor at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB). From 2003 to 2014 he has been Head of the Integrated Ophthalmology Department at Granollers-Mollet-Sant Celoni Hospitals. He has been a member of the European Glaucoma Society and the International Perimetric Society executive committees till 2012. Currently, he is Head of the Ophthalmology Department and Consultant of the Glaucoma Unit of the Mollet Hospital. He is also in practice as a Glaucoma Consultant at CTIG, Hospital Quirón-Teknon in Barcelona. His main area of interest is in clinical research, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma.
