Dr Eva Ayala graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of La Laguna (ULL) in 1994, and performed her Residency Program (MIR) in Ophthalmology at University Hospital of Ntra. Sra. de Candelaria (1996-2000) in Tenerife, Spain. She got an Ophthalmic and Orbital Plastic Surgery Master degree at Institute of Ocular Microsurgery (IMO), Faculty of Medicine at the Autónoma University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain, in 2002-2003, under lecturers Ramón Medel and Miguel González-Candial.

She was appointed consultant in the Oculoplastics and Oculofacial Aesthetics Department and lecturer for the Master degree in Ophthalmic and Orbital Plastic Surgery at Institute of Ocular Microsurgery (IMO), Faculty of Medicine at the Autónoma University of Barcelona (UAB), in 2014.

She is an active member of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS), Spanish Society of Ocular and Orbital Plastic Surgery (SECPOO), Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO) and the Ophthalmology Society of the Canary Islands (SCO).

She has published several articles in the ophthalmic plastic diseases field in national and international journals.
