Francesco Aiello graduated in Medicine at University of Campus Bio Medico di Roma in 2007. He then achieved his CCT in Ophthalmology and his European PhD at University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Afterwards, he completed an 18-month fellowship in Cataract surgery and a 36-month fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

He was awarded as Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) in 2014 and Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology – Subspecialty in Cataract and Refractive Surgery – in 2017.

Dr. Aiello is author and co-author of more than 40 articles published in peer-reviewed Journals and 3 chapters book. He was invited speaker at more that 30 national and international Congresses.

He is also Scientific secretary of the Italian Society of Corneal Transplant and Ocular Surface (SITRAC), Young Delegate of the International Society of Cornea, Stem Cells and Ocular Surface (SICSSO) and Member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).

Dr. Aiello is a high-volume surgeon performing routinely corneal lamellar transplant and cataract surgery.
