CORONAVIRUS: The Measures taken by ESASO

Dear Friends & Partners,

first of all our thoughts go to all the people affected by this new evil, to those involved in dealing with the emergency and putting their lives at risk, and to those in trouble because they cannot carry on with their job and their social commitment.

This health emergency is having an impact on the entire world population and is changing every aspect of our lives.
Also, ESASO is affected by the actual situation, facing the cancellations and postponements of courses and events. However, even during this critical moment, we are not giving up and we would like to stay close to you more than before.
Education in ophthalmology is indeed our passion and dedication, for this reason, we are pleased to present our e-learning tools:

_ eLos, a new interactive training model dedicated to ophthalmologists. It aims to disseminate scientific content related to the different fields in ophthalmology (retina, glaucoma, cataract, cornea, oculoplastic, uveitis, dry eyes, …). It is a communication hub for the management of a scientific community, where groups can be organized and divided into categories.

SWITZERLAND UPDATES

Switzerland now finds itself in an extraordinary situation. The number of cases is increasing rapidly. The entire population is affected and is urgently called upon to act responsibly: Stay at home. To limit the number of severe cases of the disease and prevent our healthcare system from being overwhelmed, we need to act together.

The Federal Council is calling on the public to act responsibly: Stay at home. The Federal Council has also further tightened its measures. It is banning gatherings of more than five people in public spaces. If five or fewer people meet, they must maintain a distance of 2 metres from one another. Anyone not complying with this rule will be fined. The other measures already in place remain in force. They are intended to curb the spread of the coronavirus as far as possible. Information for the public and people at high risk, for the workplace and for health professionals can be found here.
