Paul Ursell was appointed as an NHS consultant at Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust in 2001.

He is a full time consultant specialising in cataract surgery. He is a council member of UKISCRS and regularly presents at UK and International cataract surgery meetings as well as teaching.

Paul Ursell trained at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington and gained an MD entitled modern cataract surgery and it’s complications from St Thomas’s Hospital with Mr D Spalton and Prof J Marshal.

This investigated PCO and CME as well as post operative inflammation and led to the publication of several landmark papers.

Following this he was Clinical Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford with Prof Bron and Mr P Rosen and he finished his training with a year’s fellowship in cataract and anterior segment surgery at the Lion’s Eye Institute in Perth with Prof G Barrett.
